Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) | Wound Care

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Wound Care team. The Wound Care CNA provides comprehensive patient care and clerical support under the direction of an RN or LPN. This role focuses on assisting patients with daily living activities, wound care, and ensuring their comfort while contributing to the development and execution of care plans. The ideal candidate will maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate the delivery of patient’s service prior to, during and after their visit/examination with the RN or LPN/LVN. This includes assisting patients with mobility, transfers, positioning, and correct application of orthosis/prosthesis, use of adaptive devices, etc.
• Dress patient wounds as delegated by the RN
• Assist the RN or LPN/LVN during the intake/discharge process:
  • Collect, record and report data that includes vitals, Temperature, Pulse and Respiration (TPR), Blood Pressure (BP) and blood sugar readings
  • Take wound photography
  • Track the observed responses to treatment
  • Record care given as observed responses to treatment, including participation in wound care/Hyperbaric plan
  • Report unusual observations or changes in patient condition/behavior
  • Collect specimens as requested
• Complete unit tasks such as cleaning exam areas, cleaning hyperbaric gurneys and chambers, sterile instrument processing, and other unit tasks as assigned.
• Perform Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) related duties as needed, upon completion of the required Healogics Hyperbaric training.
• Performs other duties as required.

Job Requirements

Required Education:

• Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Idaho Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

• None required; no prior experience necessary.

Functional Demands

Physical Demands:

• Lifting: Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.; frequent lifting up to 8 lbs.
• Transfers: Bed-to-bed, floor-to-bed, bed-to-chair, and other assistance up to 30 times per shift.
• Push/Pull: Moderate force required for pushing beds, wheelchairs, and carts.
• Standing/Sitting: Up to 5 hours standing at one time; up to 2 hours sitting per day.
• Fine Motor Skills: High level required for computer use, documentation, and handling medical equipment.

Environmental Conditions:

• Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens and patient-related elements.
• Subject to varying situations, emergencies, and occasional irregular hours/shifts.
