Job Summary
Gritman Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services Coordinator to ensure our hospital facilities are clean, orderly, and safe for patients, visitors, physicians, and staff. This role assists the EVS Director with staff scheduling, supports EVS Lead Technicians in training staff on the proper use of chemicals, supplies, and equipment, and ensures meeting rooms are prepared as scheduled. Responsibilities include scheduling and inspecting deep cleaning activities, planning and overseeing floor maintenance, managing equipment selection and maintenance, participating in recruitment and evaluation of personnel, assisting with staff orientation and performance improvement, and managing supply orders and inventory for the department. This position is Monday thru Friday from 3PM to 11:30PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain Daily Operations: Ensure hospital facilities are clean and orderly to provide a safe environment.
- Policy Compliance: Follow policies and directions provided by the EVS Director.
- Staff Scheduling: Assist the EVS Director in scheduling staff shifts and assignments.
- Support Staff Training: Help train staff on proper procedures for using chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
- Meeting Room Preparation: Ensure meeting rooms are set up according to schedule and standards.
- Deep Cleaning Oversight: Schedule and inspect deep cleaning activities across all areas.
- Floor Maintenance: Plan and inspect floor work within Gritman’s facilities.
- Equipment Management: Oversee the selection, maintenance, and functionality of departmental equipment.
- Recruitment and Training: Participate in interviewing candidates, scheduling training sessions, and evaluating staff performance.
- HR Support: Assist with staff orientation, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.
- Supply Management: Order supplies and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
Qualifications:
- Required Education: None
- Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid Driver's License and automobile insurance.
- Required Experience:
- Experience in leading and coordinating day-to-day operations to meet customer needs, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Required Skills and Abilities:
- Time management and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience and knowledge of floor work, including stripping, waxing, burnishing, and carpet cleaning.
- Previous experience with hospital cleaning techniques and the use of hospital-grade chemicals and equipment.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift equipment (carts, buffers, vacuums), supplies, and bags of trash or laundry weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to push/pull full laundry bins, cleaning supplies, vacuums, mops, buffers, etc.
- Ability to kneel, stoop, stand, and walk continuously throughout the day.
Work Environment:
- Primarily indoor work with occasional outdoor tasks.
- Occasional exposure to wet conditions due to water, disinfectants, and mopping solutions.
- Frequent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals when handling cleaning supplies.
- Handling of biomedical and pharmaceutical waste streams.
