Job Overview:
As a Dog Sledding Guide at Grizzle-T, you will be responsible for leading guests on thrilling dog sledding tours through the snow-covered trails. Your primary goal is to provide a safe, fun, and memorable experience for our guests while caring for the dogs and guests, and ensuring their well-being. This is an outdoor, physically demanding role that requires dedication, a strong work ethic, and excellent customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide Dog Sledding Tours: Lead guests (ages 2 to 90) on dog sledding trips through the scenic winter landscape, ensuring safety, enjoyment, and engagement.
- Dog Care: Handle and care for a kennel of sled dogs, including feeding, grooming, and ensuring their comfort and well-being before and after tours.
- Teamwork: Work closely with fellow guides to support each other, including managing the kennel, preparing the dogs, hooking up teams, and handling equipment.
- Customer Service: Provide outstanding, friendly service to all guests, answering questions, sharing knowledge about the dogs and the area, and ensuring guests have a memorable experience.
- Physical Tasks: Perform physically demanding tasks such as running with the dogs, lifting heavy buckets of food, driving snowmobiles and working in cold and snowy conditions.
- Safety & Professionalism: Maintain a high standard of safety for both guests and dogs. Ensure that all tours are conducted professionally and responsibly.
Requirements:
- Passion for Dogs: A love for dogs and working with animals is a must!
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding work, including running, lifting, and working in snow and cold temperatures.
- Customer Service Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to creating positive, memorable experiences for guests.
- Commitment: Must be available for the entire winter season (through at least the end of March, most likely through mid-April depending on snow conditions).
- Reliability: Dependable and punctual with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Own Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to the job site.
- Work Schedule: Flexible schedule, with shifts that may vary each week. You must be available to work weekends, holidays, and other peak periods as required.
- First Aid / CPR / WFR certification
Bonus (but not required):
- Previous guiding or outdoor experience is a plus.
- Experience working with animals or in a physically demanding role is also beneficial.
