The Business Systems Analyst drives innovation and value through updated applications for business units and customers. This role oversees evaluation, testing, administration, user acceptance, data management, and configuration of applications, while fostering strong relationships with business application vendors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Develops and maintains relationships with business units, vendors, and technology teams.
• Researches and documents the interaction between application system components (end users, business processes, data, applications, integrations, and devices).
• Identifies and documents business needs, gathers requirements, and defines project scope to optimize application use for existing and new features.
• Recommends solutions or improvements to business processes through new or enhanced technology.
• Translates business requirements into application specifications.
• Manages the development, documentation, training, and coaching of best practices for business applications.
• Assists as needed with programming tasks and guiding junior developer team members.
• Oversees the creation, maintenance, and deactivation processes for application data elements, providing necessary training and guidance.
• Develops and maintains processes for managing specific application events, ensuring proper training and documentation.
• Monitors and guides the configuration, testing, and implementation of applications to support business processes.
• Partners with end-users to build strong working relationships.
• Acts as a liaison between business units and IT as needed.
• Assesses workflows, manages demands from multiple end-users, and incorporates their feedback to improve service quality.
• Works independently with minimal supervision.
• Resolves difficult and sometimes complex problems.
• Takes on additional responsibilities as needed to support business goals.
Preferred Education and Experience
• Bachelor degree in computer science, computer information systems, or related field preferred.
• Experience in maintaining, configuring, and implementing application systems.
• Project Management Professional certification is a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Some programming knowledge and experience preferred.
Preferred Technical Skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with TMW Suite/Back Office.
• Knowledge of SQL and database management.
• Knowledge in one or more programming languages.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have direct reports but influences and leads others to achieve departmental and company objectives.
