What are the responsibilities and job description for the Doggy Daycare Attendant position at Groom & Board?
About us
Groom & Board is a small dog daycare, overnight boarding and grooming facility with one location in Fishtown and another in the Point Breeze neighborhood of Philadelphia.
***RESUMES WITHOUT A COVER LETTER WILL NOT BE VIEWED.*** A fun, inclusive and supportive work environment is important to us so please share a little bit about yourself and why you'd be a good fit for the job and a positive addition to the team.
We're looking for an experienced dog daycare attendent to join our team! Currently, our hiring needs are primarily at our Fishtown location. Closing shift (12-8pm) and Friday-Monday (weekend) availablity is a must!
The primary responsiblity is facilitating a fun and safe environment for dogs to play in an open setting. Proper care and safety are always of the utmost importance and all team members must be attentive, able to follow safety and cleaning protocols and genuinely interested in learning and observing dog/pack behaviors. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Caring for boarding dogs. Feeding, giving medications and safely taking them for walks
- Providing excellent customer service for our pet owners
- Setting up daycare, boarding and grooming appointments
- Checking dogs in and out for their reservations
- Maintaining a *seriously* clean environment. Cleanliness is next to dogliness in a pet care facility.
Qualifications
- Previous experience preferred, but not required. Willing to train the right candidate
- Must be reliable! The dogs are here, or they're going to show up--this is unfortunately not the type of work where call-outs can be easily worked around
- Nature of the job dictates that candidates be consistently on their feet and able to lift/manage large (50 lb) dogs
- Ability to conduct yourself properly around a pack of dogs (not just one) and a willingness to learn what that means
- Flexible schedules preferred. Shifts are 6a-2p or 12p-8p and availablity must include at least one weekend day.
- MUST LOVE DOGS! They can be noisy, messy, hairy and sometimes a little rude. Patience and passion on our part are key to everyone (dogs and staff!) enjoying their time here.
- Our pet owners treat their dogs as children and, while it can be really fun, all team members are assuming a relatively high level of responsibility. Dogs in a pack are rarely interested in their own personal safety so it's up to us to be extremely attentive and save them from themselves.
- PMA! We'll say it again: dogs can be rude. We can't also be rude. A positive attitude and ability to work as a team are crucial for the supportive environment we strive to maintain.
***Please note that merit based raises can be given as soon as the training period has ended.***
