GROOME INDUSTRIAL SERVICE GROUP is a growing company in Denville, NJ providing specialty maintenance services nationwide for several industries including natural gas-fired power generation, refinery, shipping, manufacturing, and aviation. We are looking for a reliable and hardworking sandblaster to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with various sandblasting media and substrates. Candidates should be comfortable working long shifts, sometimes in challenging weather conditions, and should be able to maintain an efficient work pace while ensuring high-quality results. The sandblaster will also work collaboratively with other team members when sandblasting is not required, helping maintain overall shop workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sandblast a variety of substrates using different sandblasting media and grits.
- Meet job time frame estimates while maintaining a steady work pace.
- Assist with preparation for sandblasting tasks (e.g., cleaning surfaces, masking areas).
- Lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs as required for sandblasting tasks.
- Work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
- Collaborate with team members to support other tasks when sandblasting is not available.
- Maintain sandblasting equipment and keep it in good working condition.
- Communicate with team members to ensure smooth workflow and quality results.
Qualifications:
- Strong work ethic and dependability.
- Experience with sandblasting different materials and using different sandblasting media.
- Ability to meet job time frames and maintain productivity during full 8-hour shifts.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
Preferred (but not required):
- Ownership of personal tools or equipment.
- Ability to repair sandblasting equipment after possible breakdowns.
- Forklift experience.
