Primary Purpose:
The Production Scheduler supports the production scheduling and planning processes by managing shop floor documentation, maintaining system operations, and ensuring smooth communication across departments to meet production goals efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shop Order Management:
Create, maintain, and close shop orders to support the production schedule. Address any questions or issues that arise during this process.
- System Maintenance:
Perform system maintenance by generating and acting upon MRP (Material Requirements Planning) exception reports. Collaborate with the Master Scheduler and Supervisors to resolve system issues.
- Load Analysis:
Conduct load analysis of Department 201 (Machining) by periodically reviewing the Load Profile Report. Work with the Master Scheduler and Supervisors to address overloaded work centers.
- Order Processing Support:
Assist the Master Scheduler in processing new orders and generating "What-If" scenarios. Manage order edits and other related documentation as required.
- Bill of Materials & Routing Updates:
Identify and coordinate corrections to errors in the bill of materials and standard routing updates by collaborating with Industrial Engineering, Purchasing, and Engineering.
- Material Requirement Monitoring:
Monitor material requirement issues flagged in exception reports and during shop order printing. Advise Purchasing and work with the Master Scheduler to assess the impact on production schedules. Keep Supervisors informed of any material shortages or problems.
- Engineering Change Notices (ECNs):
Process ECNs, packaging change notices, and new releases from Engineering to ensure proper system setup and operation. Update outstanding shop orders as necessary.
- Scheduling Changes & Communication:
Keep Production and Purchasing teams informed of any scheduling changes. Foster strong communication links with all relevant departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Continuous Improvement & Special Projects:
Assist in special projects or other tasks as directed, contributing to the continuous improvement of production planning, scheduling, and overall operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent education. Additional coursework or technical training in manufacturing or related fields is beneficial.
- Experience:
At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role within Groschopp or another manufacturing environment, focusing on production, inventory control, production planning, or scheduling.
Alternatively, special training in manufacturing (e.g., APICS CPIM certification) or related college/technical school courses may be considered in lieu of direct experience.
