What are the responsibilities and job description for the Airport Maintenance Assistant/ Seasonal/ Part-Time position at Grosse Ile Township?
Grosse Ile Township, Michigan is looking for a seasonal maintenance assistant to assist the Grosse Ile Municipal Airport with general summer maintenance activities. Eligible employees must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, be able to work outside in potentially adverse weather conditions, pass a mandatory physical, drug screen and background check. The position schedule will be Monday-Friday, 8-4 p.m., is seasonal and will not extend beyond August 31, 2025. Any previous experience operating a commercial mower or other landscape equipment is a plus. As a seasonal employee, benefits are not offered, pay is $15/hour. Under the direction of the Grosse Ile Municipal Airport/Commerce Park or his/her designee, this labor position is responsible for the assistance of the operation of utility equipment necessary to complete public services projects as delegated by the Airport/Commerce Park Manager, Airport/Commerce Park Maintenance Staff. Job responsibilities include:
1. Grounds maintenance – Utilizing lawn and property maintenance equipment
including but not limited to push, riding, zero turn, and other grass mowing
equipment. Weed whips, chainsaws, etc.
2. Assists in runway & taxiway maintenance – Including but not limited to spraying
weeds, FOD removal, light checks, etc.
3. Basic facility maintenance – light bulb changing, ceiling tile removal and
replacement, etc.
4. Assists with contractor coordination on various utility projects.
5. Assists airport staff with general vehicle/equipment maintenance.
6. Assists in the maintenance staff with daily building checks.
7. Trash receptacle emptying and distribution.
8. Employee must follow job site and equipment safety guidelines and departmental procedures, OSHA and MIOSHA guidelines and requirements.
9. Any other work assigned by the Airport Manager and his/her designee.
