Job Summary:
As an Ophthalmology RN Circulator at Grossmont Surgery Center, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of high-quality patient care during ophthalmic surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in perioperative nursing, particularly within the ophthalmology specialty, and possess excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preoperative Assessment:
- Conduct thorough preoperative assessments of patients scheduled for ophthalmic surgeries.
- Review patient histories, medications, and any potential contraindications.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure proper patient preparation.
- Intraoperative Support:
- Serve as a circulator in the operating room during ophthalmic procedures.
- Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical techs to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow.
- Anticipate and respond to the needs of the surgical team to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Patient Advocacy:
- Advocate for patients by ensuring their understanding of the surgical process and addressing any concerns.
- Monitor patients' well-being throughout the perioperative period and promptly address any deviations from the norm.
- Infection Control:
- Adhere to strict aseptic techniques to prevent surgical site infections.
- Collaborate with the infection control team to maintain a safe and sterile environment in the operating room.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Accurately document all aspects of patient care in electronic medical records.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines related to ophthalmic surgeries.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license in the state of California
- Minimum of 1 years of experience in perioperative nursing, with a focus on ophthalmology.
- BLS and ACLS certification.
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmic surgical procedures and equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced surgical environment.
