Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. Duties
- Assist ophthalmologists during patient examinations and procedures.
- Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, and refraction.
- Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining medical history and explaining procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems, such as Epic.
- Educate patients on post-operative care and proper use of prescribed medications.
- Handle administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and billing inquiries.
- Support retail sales of eyewear and contact lenses, utilizing knowledge of retail math to assist customers effectively.
- Collaborate with the medical team to ensure a seamless patient experience.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with ophthalmology practices is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical coding and billing processes is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of anatomy related to the eye and vision.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient care and customer service.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, particularly Epic, is beneficial.
