The Thomas J. Dyer Company is looking for a Senior Project Manager in Cincinnati, Ohio. Summary:
Consistent with the Dyer Core Values and Strategic Vision, the Senior Project Manager will provide planning and execution of projects/tasks using best practices and standards to deliver the most favorable outcome while building and maintaining strong relationships with our customers, subcontractors, vendors, internal partners and the owners.
Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
Lead by Example:
- Communicate with Field Operations Manager to ensure the quantity and skill level of the workforce is adequate.
- Set-up and maintain your assigned projects within the Weekly Manpower Sheet and discuss any variances, positive or negative, in the weekly operations meeting.
- Support the set-up and update of the Weekly Labor Productivity Sheet.
- Address scheduling issues with the Construction Manager/Owner including providing most effective corrective action measures and/or cost implications.
- Distribute the project schedule to internal personnel, subcontractors and vendors and follow-up on critical dates/milestones.
- Review weekly trends in labor productivity and respond to any issues with appropriate corrective measures.
Build Lifelong Partnerships:
- Provide clear and timely direction to coordinators/detailers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Manage communication with the Customer to coordinate work, resolve issues, address change orders while maintaining a positive relationship.
- Provide input into the project schedule and attend any scheduling meetings necessary to maintain an efficient plan for our work.
- Work with accounting department to ensure billed costs are accurate, valid, and applied to the appropriate project, phase, and category.
Act with Integrity:
- Develop a detailed budget for the project.
- Set-up and negotiate the schedule of values with the customer to achieve most favorable cash position for the project.
- In conjunction with the accounting department, ensure the monthly billing is submitted timely and accurately to the customer to avoid delays in payment.
- Identify, quote, negotiate and track all project change orders.
- Provide an accurate, timely and complete cost to complete projection on all assigned projects.
- Manage the document control process to ensure the most accurate and current information is distributed timely to the required personnel.
- In conjunction with the Pre-Construction team, buyout equipment, materials, and subcontractors according to the Purchasing SOP.
- Purchase/release equipment and materials to support the project schedule and field/shop plans.
Put People First:
- Work with the Safety Director to ensure all employees have the necessary equipment and training to perform their jobs safely.
- Review projects on a regular basis and address any safety related issues.
- Ensure any safety related issues are handled promptly and appropriately.
Challenge the Ordinary:
- Develop a phased manpower budget from the project estimate.
- Review the overall project schedule and develop most efficient plan for our scope of work.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- 5 years’ experience as a Project Manager
- Degree in Construction Management, Business Management or Engineering is preferred
- Must have comprehensive computer skills.
- Strong Mechanical and Process Pipe Systems knowledge
Physical demands/work environment:
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs on an infrequent basis.
- Maintain and utilize all applicable personal protective equipment as needed in the shop, on the job site as well as ensuring the same for all shop personnel.
