What are the responsibilities and job description for the Turf Manager - Applicator position at Ground Force?
Job Purpose: Performing and overseeing lawn care services provided to the customers of Ground Force. This person will also be responsible for other duties as assigned.
Pay Range: $25-28/hour DOQ - Yearly salary may be available if qualified
Direct Report: Operations Manager
Job Duties:
- Operate fertilizer and pesticide equipment including, but not limited to, Z-Spray, spray tanks, walk-behind spreaders and aerator
- Follow company safety program and all chemical protocols
- Perform daily maintenance check lists on equipment and chemicals
- Perform effective time management and tracking
- Accurately complete paperwork as required
- Adhere to schedules and routes per management direction
- Perform work in various weather conditions
- Promptly and respectfully communicate with customers to address their concerns, feedback and/or questions
- Perform landscape and maintenance tasks on client’s properties.
- Work in conjunction with Operations Manager to ensure the work contracted is implemented efficiently and according to the contracted specifications.
- Provide labor associated with the maintenance of all lawns and garden beds, including cleanouts.
- Unload/load equipment and material, clean out truck/trailer by removing trash, debris, etc. daily.
- Assist in the performance of spring and fall clean-up as needed.
- Landscape bed maintenance to include mulching, pruning and weed control as required
- Keep work environments clean and safe
- Monitor lawn and turf management quality and report problems/concerns to Operations Manager
- Monitor inventory of materials and supplies and report needs to Operations Manager
Other Duties:
- Basic routine maintenance of lawn care equipment and tools
- Wash dirty equipment and return to storage location.
- Report damaged or broken equipment to supervisor immediately and get parts on order
- Be available to assist other work crews as needed
- Communicate needs, concerns and/or problems to supervisor – resolve in a timely manner
- Adhere to all company safety practices, procedures and policies
- Maintain good communication and positive relations with co-workers, customers and the public
- Represent Ground Force in a positive manner at all times
- Other tasks as assigned or as needed.

Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED Preferred
- 2-3 years of experience in residential or commercial chemical application or related is strongly preferred
- Must be able to obtain Medical DOT health card
- Valid A and E MN pesticide applicator licenses or the ability to obtain them
- Valid MN driver’s license required with clean driving record
- Proficient in operating fertilizer/pesticide application equipment with the ability to operate other lawn care equipment strongly preferred
- Reliable transportation required
- Mechanically inclined
- Detail oriented
Abilities and Skills:
- Ability to safely operate all assigned equipment and tools
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, twist, reach and climb ladders
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Good supervisory skills
Working Conditions:
This work is primarily performed outside in all sorts of weather conditions (i.e. hot, humid, cold, wet, windy, rain, snow) which means the person will need to be adequately prepared.
