What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Field Operator position at Ground Water Treatment & Technology, LLC?
Ground / Water Treatment & Technology (GWTT) has an opening in our Operations & Maintenance Services Division for a full-time Field Operator with 3-5 years of relevant Process and/or Water Treatment experience. The right individual will be dependable, self-motivated and a team player with excellent communications skills. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to perform the work responsibilities summarized below. All candidates should have good problem-solving skills, along with strong communication skills. An Industrial (Phys/Chem) Treatment License is preferred but not required. The Operator, under the supervision of a project manager, is accountable for operating various types of process equipment and systems used to treat contaminated groundwater, leachate, and other industrial wastewaters. The amount of supervision required depends on the complexity of the sites and the experience level of the Operator.

- Records operational data, meter, and gauge readings on specified forms.
- Operates, inspects, adjusts, and monitors process equipment, meters, gauges, and controls to detect problems/malfunctions and maintain proper level of equipment operation and system performance.
- Maximize Plant/System run time and maintain detailed work records, including system logbooks in a legible manner.
- Assists in maintenance of the WWTP, which may include tearing down and repairing sludge pumps, chemical pumps, valves, plugged piping, cleaning clarifiers and containments.
- Collects samples and performs tests on industrial wastewater samples.
- Performs process calculations required for the proper operation of equipment, including but not limited to chemical dosage rates, clarifier operation, sludge generation rate.
- Responds to alarms for emergencies at various facilities/systems, as defined by client contracts.
- Performs preventive maintenance using hand tools, power tools and/or precision equipment in accordance with O&M guidelines and requirements.
- Oversees off-loading of chemicals and changeover of chemical containers.
- Conducts inventory of all chemicals and supplies daily/weekly. Notifies project management staff when chemical orders are needed.
- Uses computer based maintenance management program as part of workday; prepares basic reports and communications using computer programs, skilled in using Microsoft Office.
- Must have a flexible Work Schedule, OT, and weekend shifts and out of town travel will be required.

Education and Experience Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Industrial (Phys/Chem) Wastewater License or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.
- OSHA 40 Hour Hazwoper preferred; training will be offered to the right candidate.
- Must be proficient with MS Office.
- 3 – 5 years of related work experience.
- Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record and must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
