What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crew Coordinator position at Groundbreakers, Kids Crossing?
The mission of Groundbreakers is to provide healing and training with youths for a productive life. We do 50% healing through the use of trauma informed care techniques, and 50% work ethic development. Healing is delivered through non-traditional movement based therapeutic activities such as clay modeling, painting, life skills coaching, bicycle repair, culinary arts, music/beats, and coffee/customer service. Work ethic development includes specialized training, providing real landscaping work experiences for real customers, and providing youth with job placement and internship opportunities. Groundbreakers works with 14 to 17 year old boys and girls who have had hard experiences growing up.
Job Requirements
Hours:
All hours are in person, not remote.
School year - 11:30am to 7pm (Tues - Fri) and 8am to 6pm (Saturdays).
Summer 8am to 6pm (Tues-Fri).
Work Location:
Groundbreakers is urgently hiring and will not accept applicants from outside of Colorado Springs vicinity. Applicants from other states need not apply at this time.
Education:
Bachelors level or higher degree required.
Experience:
2 years experience working with at-risk youths and families required.
Job Description:
Youth Specialists do a wide variety of direct care activities with youths ages 14-17 who are enrolled in the Groundbreakers Program. Youth Specialists will be trained in and then utilize curriculums to deliver Healing Activities to small groups of youths such as clay modeling, painting, music/beats, bicycle repair, life skills coaching, culinary arts, and coffee and customer service. Our Crew Coordinator will also provide direct care, leadership and supervision for other activities that Groundbreakers performs such as running fun activities and working alongside youths on landscaping crews (no landscaping experience required). Physicality is required such as being able to do casual sports with youths and being able to handle some rigorous activities on work crews such as shoveling rocks, putting down weed mat, installing mulch/sod, removing debris, mowing etc.. Youth Specialists will be trained in depth in Trust Based Relational Interventions (TBRI) and will be expected to be trauma informed at all times. Passion for working with teenagers who have had hard experiences growing up is a must. Administrative skills such as using e-mail, Office 365, entering precise information into a database, and professional communication required. Must be able to work within a close-knit team of professionals who are passionate about healing and training youths.
