The Ground, based in the beautiful Willamette Valley, is a business that connects farm, food, and people through hospitality. We’re looking for a dynamic Event Lead to join our Events team, assisting the Event Operations Manager in overseeing the execution of exceptional events across The Ground’s diverse spaces and venues.
Job Summary:
The Event Lead is a part-time, position focusing on the safe and efficient execution of events. Areas of responsibility may include assisting in managing event operations, event equipment and furniture, maintaining cleanliness, and working with other departments to execute successful events. They assist in managing all food and beverage outlets, and monitor quality of service in event operations. Candidates must have a friendly and professional demeanor, work well on a team, and be comfortable on their feet for several hours at a time.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist with logistics and execution
- Supervising personnel, assigning tasks to service workers on occasion
- Ensuring kitchens and event facilities are clean and properly set
- Monitors and ensures client’s overall satisfaction throughout execution of event.
- Maintains standards for food and beverage quality, presentation, handling, sanitation and safety.
- Follows all appropriate policies and procedures.
- Serves food and beverage to guests and provides quality customer service.
- Advises guests, clients and team members on matters relating to food and beverage offerings.
- Communicates directly with the Culinary and Stewarding teams during service to ensure proper client and guest service is being achieved.
- Coordinates the timing of each course to correspond with the dining pace of the guests.
- Conducts a briefing or “line-up” with team members at the beginning of each shift in order to keep staff informed of updates, changes and/or problematic situations.
- Represents the venue as the point of contact during events, acts as a liaison between guests and team members, responds and works to resolve guest issues and concerns as necessary.
- Comply with all food and beverage regulations
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to perform essential functions on the computerized Point of Sale system (Toast).
- Working knowledge of applicable liquor laws and regulations.
- Working knowledge of standard cash handling procedures.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years experience in the hospitality industry: restaurant, events, hotel
- An understanding of various event types and logistics in planning/executing events
- Familiar with BEO/Catering forms
- Familiar with POS systems (Toast)
- Passion and enthusiasm for delivering high quality work and hospitality
- A flexible approach when working as an important part of a team
- Excellent communication skills
- Time management skills and the ability to cope with several projects at a time
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Being open to feedback and willing to make changes to work
- A flexible, responsive, and can-do attitude
- OLCC/Food Handlers
- Ability to be on feet for extended periods of time
- Ability to be physically active for long periods of time
- Reliable vehicle
