Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and engineering drawings to understand the scope of work and requirements.
- Conduct thorough quantity take-offs and cost estimates for site work and grading activities, including earthwork, excavation, utilities, drainage, and erosion control.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate quotes and pricing for materials, equipment, and services.
- Prepare detailed and competitive bids and proposals for site work and grading projects, ensuring compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
- Evaluate and compare subcontractor bids and negotiate contracts to secure the most favorable terms and conditions.
- Continuously monitor and update cost databases and estimating software to ensure accuracy and efficiency in estimating processes.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project kick-off meetings to gain a comprehensive understanding of project requirements and constraints.
- Work closely with project managers and construction teams to provide ongoing cost analysis, value engineering, and budget tracking throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, and engineers to identify potential cost-saving measures and alternative construction methods without compromising quality.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and material costs to provide accurate cost projections and recommendations.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Estimator specializing in site work and grading within the construction industry.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience.
- In-depth knowledge of site work and grading processes, including earthwork calculations, cut and fill analysis, and drainage requirements.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills to perform accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimations.
- Familiarity with estimating software and tools, such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar applications.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact effectively with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in estimating project costs.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
