Turf Chemical Technician
The Turf Chemical Technician is responsible for applying fertilizers and weed / pest control products to promote healthy lawns and plants in the landscape. This Technician will complete all required lawn or plant applications by assessing the overall health of the lawn and plants and solve any issues related to weed, insect, disease, and other pest issues. This is a full time hourly position – Monday through Friday, with overtime for extended workdays and weekend work required as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Mix and apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides to lawns and plant materials according to label requirements and use proper PPE at all times.
- Safely operate and perform routine maintenance of all equipment. Prepare the truck and trailer daily for services including loading materials and equipment.
- Communicate to management client's property conditions and other field issues. This includes but is not limited to informing management of any property issues or concerns that are not resolved and reporting any damage that occurs as a result of treatment.
- Document all applications and the products being used.
Required Skills & Abilities
- 2 years or more experience working with chemicals used in landscaping or equivalent.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Inspecting and diagnosing any lawn or landscaping issue to develop a plan of action to resolve.
- Ability to learn and identify weeds, growth, or pest related issues.
- Must possess ability to operate lawn fertilization and weed/pest application equipment including, but not limited to: zero turn ride on applicator, backpack sprayer, fertilizer lawn spreaders, truck and trailer equipment, and others.
- Follow all label requirements when applying fertilizers and pest control products.
- Strong communication skills – English verbal, written, and reading comprehension.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to follow directions.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally lift/move more.
- Maintain the physical fitness levels necessary to complete assigned tasks.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Meet all applicable Federal and State mandated labor laws.
- Be able to withstand strenuous work in adverse weather conditions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Previous lawncare/turf chemical application experience.
- Common knowledge of plants, turfs, lawn diseases, weeds, and other pests.
- RT license preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days
