This intern position offers hands-on experience with the IAM team and industry-standard identity solutions (SailPoint, Terraform, Entra/AD) within the financial services sector. Intern(s) would work directly with Group1001 engineers on high-impact projects from automating access management workflows (SailPoint) to developing security solutions that protect billions in assets. Beyond the technical skills, interns would gain unique exposure to Platform Engineering operations while receiving mentorship from both industry veterans and early-career engineers.

Main Accountabilities:
- Identity Risk Scoring System – build an engine that calculates risk scores for user identities, including but not limited to access patterns, role combinations, login behaviors, and policy violations. This would involve building APIs to collect data from SailPoint, Entra / AD and zScaler, as well as creating a weighted scoring algorithm to gauge risk severity in outputs.
- Application Dependency Mapper – build a tool that maps relationships between applications and user roles / groups. This would result in identifying access dependencies, role hierarchies, integration points, and usage patterns, creating a tangible understanding of internal access management complexities.
- Identity Analytics Optimization – create a mechanism to analyze access patterns, compliance metrics, usage trends and cost effectiveness opportunities. This effort could include but is not limited to creating an identity data warehouse and ETL pipelines from SailPoint, Entra / AD, etc., and would provide actionable insight with potential dashboard interfacing.
- Undergraduate students completing their sophomore or junior year pursuing Identity Management and Security, Computer Science or Information Technology Majors.
- Availability to work full-time hours over the summer.
- Interest in solving identity problems with well-structured practice and code.
- Basic understanding of Identity & Access Management, and Privileged Access Management.
- Ability to work tasks independently and participate in team ceremonies, formal and otherwise.
- Willingness to try, fail fast and iterate.
- Excellent communication skills, with a willingness to give and take feedback.
