Grouse Mountain Environmental Consultants, LLC is seeking a GIS Technician to support mapping operations and data management for our team in Buffalo, WY. The GIS Technician will be responsible for managing data and offering GIS support for multiple departments and a variety of projects. This is a full-time/salaried and benefited position for an onsite employee. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance and a 401(k) plan with matching. Buffalo is located at the foot of the Bighorn Mountains, offering numerous recreational opportunities.
Primary Duties
· Work with our onsite Project Managers and Team Members to understand the scope, requirements, and objectives of a variety of oil and gas, wildlife, cultural resources, renewable energies, and other natural resource projects
· Develop cartographic products using ESRI ArcGIS Pro
· Manage and maintain all spatial data to company standards
· Work directly with Team Members to create web maps in ArcGIS Enterprise/ArcGIS Online, prepare field-ready maps and manage field-collected data
Required Skills and Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or 1-2 years’ experience using ArcGIS for cartography
· Must be proficient with ArcGIS desktop applications and geospatial theory such as coordinate systems and projections
· Management of natural resource related datasets preferred
· Experience with oil and gas, renewable energies, or natural resource projects preferred
Desired Experience
· Experience using:
o ESRI mobile apps for field data collection such as Field Maps and Survey123
o ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, or another Web GIS to create web maps
o File and enterprise geodatabase systems
o ArcGIS Pro
· Basic understanding of:
o The Public Land Survey System
o Cadastral survey
o Land ownership and parcel development
