Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Support students in their daily activities, including academic tasks, social interactions, and personal care.
- Foster a positive learning environment by encouraging student participation and engagement.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and adapt curriculum materials tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers regarding individual performance.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to promote understanding and collaboration.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to special education.
Requirements
- Experience working with children or students, particularly those with special needs.
- Familiarity with Montessori methods or early childhood education principles is preferred.
- Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and strategies for supporting individuals on the spectrum.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and educational staff.
- Experience in curriculum development or adapting educational materials for diverse learners is a plus.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language or experience in deaf education is advantageous but not required.
