Job Description

Groves Electrical Services is looking to hire Transmission Linemen. Applicants must have experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of overhead electrical Transmission systems. This position will be based in Madisonville, KY.

Essential Functions
A Transmission Lineman has a comprehensive understanding of powerline work and equipment. In addition to this, a Transmission Lineman is also expected to perform the following functions:

· Participates in regular job briefings and safety meetings.

· Operation of construction equipment including digger derricks, bucket trucks, pulling equipment, and other construction equipment.

· Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and willingness to perform any function of the scope of work.

· Ability to troubleshooting issues using proper electrical testing devices.

· Reads and interprets technical diagrams and blueprints.

· Operation of construction equipment including digger derricks, bucket trucks, pulling equipment, and other construction equipment.

· Conducts quality assurance and inspections.

· Properly installing, using, and removing PPE and cover up.

· Skill in the use of the tools and equipment commonly used in the lineman trade (example: hoists, hotline stick, hotline clamp, ratchet cutter etc.).

· Maintains a safe work environment by adhering to all company and customer required safety guidelines.

· Communicates effectively with crew members, management, and customers.

· Other duties as required.

Competencies

· Advanced troubleshooting skills.

· Excellent teamwork and customer service skills.

· Experience with Heavy Equipment Operation preferred:

· Ability to manage multiple tasks / projects simultaneously.

· Self-motivated.

· Willingness to work after-hours, as needed.

Preferred/Required Education and Experience

· 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the lineman trade required.

· Completion of an apprenticeship program in the lineman trade preferred.

· Valid Driver’s License is required, CDL is preferred.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in varying environments. These work environments may include outdoor weather conditions, working around machines, moving parts, enclosed spaces, heights etc.

The hazardous conditions of working with high-voltage energized lines and equipment are a critical factor for this job.

Travel is required, including overnight stays.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform some physical duties including walking, climbing, bending, stooping, stretching, or similar activities. Employees are also required to wear all necessary safety equipment which may include protective clothing, safety glasses, hard hat, masks, gloves, shields, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to maneuver equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, 40 hours a week.
