Description
Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, the Child Development Specialist provides in-home, play-based early intervention services to infants and toddlers (ages 0-3) with developmental delays. These services are tailored to support each child's growth in their most natural environment, aligning with California’s early intervention standards and regulations.
Remote services may be approved on a case-by-case basis. This role involves close collaboration with families, as well as participation in a multidisciplinary team to achieve Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Engage infants and toddlers (ages 0-3) in age-appropriate, play-based educational activities that promote developmental milestones.
- Deliver early intervention services in natural settings, such as the child’s home or community.
- Collect, record, and summarize session data using electronic applications or portals.
- Guide and coach parents/caregivers to incorporate social-emotional and developmental activities into daily routines.
- Communicate effectively with families to ensure they understand the interventions and goals being addressed.
- Participate in the IFSP process, including attending meetings and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team.
- Adhere to all program policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations, including HIPAA, privacy, and confidentiality laws.
Schedule
- Flexible scheduling: Morning, afternoon, or full-day shifts.
- Monday through Friday, with weekend availability as needed.
- Ability to create and manage your own weekly schedule in collaboration with the families on your caseload.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in child development, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field required.
Experience
- At least one (1) year of experience working with children aged 0-3.
Additional Requirements:
- Reliable transportation and ability to cover a 30-mile radius from the assigned home office.
- Valid California ID or Driver’s License.
- Proof of valid auto insurance and vehicle registration (if driving is required).
- Spanish Bilingual Preferred
- Ability to pass all pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a Live Scan background check, TB test, and physical examination.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds to support child activities.
- Must be able to run, bend, sit, stand for long periods at a time
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly Rate: $20 - $30, depending on experience and qualifications.

Work Details
Location: In-home services across Santa Maria, Orcutt, Guadalupe, Nipomo and Lompoc.
