Position Summary

In our pursuit of sustaining excellence in seedling production and pioneering agricultural solutions, we are actively seeking a seasoned professional for the role of Sales Representative.
A Sales Representative establishes, develops, and nurtures the relationship between Growers Transplanting, Inc., and its customers by helping both parties obtain operational and business goals. Duties include servicing the account; ensuring products being shipped fulfills order and meets quality standards set forth by the company; working in the field with individual plant accounts in addition to transplanting accounts. The Sales Representative will be responsible for maintaining existing customers as well as securing new sales in California and other assigned areas.
Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)
- Achieve sales goals based on current marketplace conditions and pricing.
- Maintain trusted and professional relationships with accounts.
- Always be developing new business contacts and relationships while growing current base.
- Submit accurate and timely plant and transplant orders and changes from customer to Sales Support Staff.
- Submit accurate and timely plant and transplanting orders for delivery to the field.
- Review customer order details in system to ensure accuracy and order fulfillment.
- Work with customers directly to develop outstanding practices to benefit both the customer and GTI.
- Work directly with Greenhouse personnel and Sales team to communicate customers’ wants and needs on a weekly basis.
- Work with field personnel to develop the most efficient transplanting operations for customers and GTI.
- Communicate with customers on availability, pricing, quality, and delivery window.
- Respond to all questions from customers, personnel, etc., in a timely manner.
- Achieve sales margins based on information given by the Business Development Manager and CFO.
- Operate within a given budget.
- Performs all duties in accordance with environmental, food safety, safety rules and regulations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients within the assigned regions through regular in-person meetings, follow-ups, and personalized service to drive sales and ensure customer satisfaction. This role could require daily travel, up to 50% of the time.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Compensation: $75,000 to $95,000
The compensation range for this role is determined by factors such as location and required skills. The salary range provided reflects the lowest to highest amount we reasonably anticipate paying for this position at the time of posting. Compensation is influenced by labor market conditions and various factors, including but not limited to: the prevailing minimum wage in the area, relevant education, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, sales or revenue targets, and business needs. It is not typical for a new hire to be offered the highest end of the salary range. Pay decisions are made based on the unique circumstances of each candidate and position. Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Experience)
- Degree or pertinent field of study preferred.
- Greenhouse vegetable transplant experience preferred.
- Knowledge of transplanting is preferred.
- Willingness to travel beyond the immediate region, primarily within California, with occasional travel to other Western U.S. states (Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, etc.) and Mexico. Travel requirements may account for up to 50% of work time.
- Basic math skills: ability to calculate figures and amounts such as plant totals, discounts, interest, percentages, area, perimeter and plants per acre.
- Must be proactive, energetic, a self-starter who can work independently.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written required.
- Microsoft Office Suite intermediate level skills necessary.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) conversational level speaking skills preferred.
- Valid CA Driver’s License must maintain eligibility for company vehicle insurance.
Physical Requirements
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; frequently required to talk or hear; and occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities by this job include close distance and color vision.
