Position Summary
A Seedline Worker is responsible for supporting the production process in seed handling, planting, or packaging. They ensure that seeds are prepared, handled, and distributed correctly, meeting production standards and ensuring optimal conditions for plant growth. This position involves working with seed planting machinery, performing manual labor tasks, and assisting in the quality control of seeds and plants.
Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)
- Prepare and handle seeds for planting, including sorting, packaging, and labelling them for distribution. Ensure seeds are stored in optimal conditions to maintain their viability.
- Assist in the planting of seeds, whether by hand or with planting machinery, following production schedules and maintaining efficient workflows.
- Operate seed planting machinery, including Seedline equipment, to ensure proper placement and spacing of seeds. Monitor machine performance and adjust settings as needed.
- Inspect seeds for damage, defects, or contamination. Ensure that only high-quality seeds are used for planting and packaging.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on seed planting machinery and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Keep track of seed stock and other planting materials. Report low stock or potential shortages to supervisors.
- Maintain accurate records of seed batches, planting schedules, and any adjustments made during the planting process.
- Follow safety guidelines and company protocols to prevent accidents and ensure proper handling of seeds and equipment.
- Work with other team members to meet daily production targets and assist with other tasks in the facility as needed, such as packing or quality inspection.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Experience)
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Good Communication Skills, written and oral.
- Able to work flexible hours
- Forklift Certified
Physical Requirements
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; frequently required to talk or hear; and occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities by this job include close distance and color vision.
