Growing Gains is a therapist owned and operated, multi-disciplinary pediatric practice proudly serving all five boroughs of New York City. We provide therapy services to children, teens, and young adults between the ages of 3 and 21 years old.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team to provide high-quality therapeutic services to children in New York City. This role offers flexibility, allowing the therapist to set their own schedule and work in various settings such as homes, schools, parks, libraries, or sensory gyms, depending on the needs of the child and their family. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and experience in pediatric therapy, especially in home or school-based environments.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to the child’s unique needs, goals, and abilities.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to help children improve fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, coordination, and activities of daily living.
- Work collaboratively with families, caregivers, teachers, and other healthcare providers to ensure integrated, effective care.
- Educate and train families and caregivers on strategies and exercises to reinforce therapy goals at home or in the community.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment plans, patient progress, and other necessary records.
- Stay informed on the latest developments and best practices in pediatric occupational therapy through ongoing professional education.
- Adapt therapy techniques and environments to suit individual needs, ensuring a fun and engaging therapeutic experience for children.
Requirements:
- Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Licensing: Must hold a valid Occupational Therapy license in the state of New York.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience working as a licensed occupational therapist.
- Experience working in school-based or home-based settings with children who have diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, sensory processing disorders, and autism spectrum disorders.
Skills:
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to design and implement creative, engaging therapeutic interventions that align with each child’s goals.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining documentation and tracking progress.
- Ability to work independently, managing a flexible caseload and scheduling visits based on client availability and preferences.
