Overview:
Growing Hearts Daycare & Preschool (a ministry of Zion Community Church of the Nazarene on the west side of Bloomington) is looking to expand our team with additional infant / toddler teachers.
Growing Hearts team members are committed to providing compassionate care, demonstrating Christ-like character, and exhibiting a commitment to growth.
This applicant will need to be able to perform the daily tasks of providing care for children in the nurseries (i.e. diaper changes, feedings, follow schedules, playing and interacting), as well as age-appropriate care and learning for the children in our preschool rooms (i.e. prepare lesson plans and teach/follow a curriculum). This applicant must be able to work well with others and be flexible with the day to day schedule of working in a daycare and preschool.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Warmly greet parents during drop off and pickup
- Lay a foundation for learning using developmentally-appropriate practices, engaging children with age-appropriate play and supervision
- Follow state guidance, program policies, and parent instructions for daily care
- Provide regular, positive, and professional communication with parents via technology tools (Brightwheel)
- Maintain a tidy and sanitary classroom environment consistent with Indiana's childcare regulations
- Support the mission of Growing Hearts and Zion Community Church
Key Working Relationships
- Directly report to the GHDP Executive Director and Assistant Director
- Collaborate with support staff and shared resources
- Co-professional with all teachers at GHDP
- Partner with and member of the ministry team of Zion Community Church of the Nazarene
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 30 pounds
- Ability to bend and kneel as necessary
- Varied time standing and sitting
Desired Education & Qualifications
- A love for learning, children, and Jesus Christ
- High School Diploma / GED
- Willingness to grow as an early childhood educator through continuing education and professional development
