CBH Intake Coordinator is responsible for coordination of the referral, intake, authorization process, and re-authorization for GHSE clients receiving CBH services from GHSE.
Position requires independent work, critical thinking, and the ability to analyze information provided and make assessments on services needed and additional paperwork required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Accepts and coordinates all CBH referrals for services from intake, authorization to closure.
- Coordinates and schedules CBH assessments and completion of the Intake, quarterly, and annuals forms required for authorization for all CBH services in SC.
- Communicates with referring agencies in regard to requested services, changes in services requests, etc.; (i.e. Obtains pertinent referral forms from referring agencies).
- Monitors MCO, Medicaid and Kepro sites for approvals, pending requests, and denials, and works with referral resources to obtain necessary documents to respond to pending requests and/or denials.
- Compiles and submits all packets for initial authorization and reauthorization with required documents to each respective payment source (Kepro, Blue Choice, Molina, Select Health, SC Medicaid, Cenpatico, and Well Care, state paid) for all CBH services in SC.
- Once authorizations are completed, notifies all staff of authorized services and units authorized.
- Coordinates with the Billing Department and PQI Department to obtain needed documents for reauthorization.
- Maintains system to track referrals from agencies and individuals. Updates daily or as needed in eR.
- Inputs action form information in Extended Reach for intake, change and discharge of all CBH clients.
- Must maintain a working knowledge and understanding of all State Medicaid guidelines for Behavioral Health Services to ensure compliance with all current regulations as it relates to CBH authorization for services.
- Checks Medicaid website monthly for all clients to ensure continued billable service provision.
- Develops reports as required/needed.
- Communicates with RBHS workers as necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities None
Community Contacts:
County and state referral agency representatives, community service provider representatives, clients’ families, and MCO staff as needed.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
The CBH Intake Coordinator must have a high school diploma and at least three years of experience in medical records or billing. Knowledge of electronic records and billing software is preferred.

Location: Remote position - employee may need to come into the Corporate office in Cayce, SC for events/meetings
This is a FULL-TIME position. Salary based on experience.
