What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meat Cutter/Butcher position at Growing Kapolei Business?
Hawaii Meats seeks an ambitious, quality-oriented Meat Cutter / Butcher to perform animal butchering and related functions at Hawaii Meats’ USDA-inspected meat packing plant. The Butcher will be responsible for:
- Food safety, personal hygiene, and a clean workspace
- Knife and tool safety
- Assisting with quality control, checking animals and carcasses to ensure they are of highest quality and meet Hawaii Meats’ specs
- Assisting Butcher Supervisor with clearing rails for next day maintaining proper rotation
- Learning harvesting of animals with mechanical equipment and knives;
- Learning at least 3-4 stations on the slaughter floor
- Performing cleanup of animal waste and parts;
- Transporting waste material to the rendering plant;
- Cleaning and maintenance of the slaughter floor areas and outside animal pens, trailers, and communicating any issues to plant leadership
- Learning and upholding the highest standards of animal welfare, food safety, and product quality;
- Complete tasks in a timely manner
- Learn all cuts from the Carcass (Hawaii Meats cut chart)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills. Focus on teamwork
- Exhibiting the highest levels of personal hygiene and professionalism

The candidate must be able to lift 75 lbs.

Pay: $16.00 - $25.00 per hour
