Salary : $12 - $15
POSITION SUMMARY : This position in Elkhart hours are 9 am to 6 : 15 pm.
The Assistant Teacher-Floater works closely with the Lead Teacher to carry out the goals, policies, and activities designed to implement educational objectives and performance standards. Works as a team member with classroom staff and parents to implement curriculum that is meaningful and meets the individual and program needs.
As a Floater, will be assigned to various classrooms as deemed necessary for program operations. Candidate must be willing to work where needed within the various age groups 6 weeks to 6 years old.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Assist with preparation of lesson plans, including objectives to be posted for parents, volunteers and visitors in the classroom.
2. Engage with children in an indoor and outdoor learning environment that provides a variety of age appropriate experiences to foster child exploration and discovery.
2. Use a curriculum framework and curriculum tools that provide opportunities for each child to meet learning expectations that prepare children for success in school.
3. Establish a daily routine that includes time for small group and large group activities, encourages creative expression, and incorporates health and nutrition development as part of daily activities.
4. Model appropriate and respectful behavior to the children and fellow staff.
5. Support childrens social and emotional development through positive child guidance approaches and the development of positive relationships in the classroom.
7. Establish and maintain confidential, accurate and timely information on each childs development and program participation. Maintain confidentiality.
8. Use video communication systems and classroom video recordings for intersite communication, professional development and potential parent leadership training.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned.
Employment Requirements :
- Minimum requirement is a High School Diploma / GED and CDA (Child Development Associate) or be enrolled in a CDA credential program that will be completed within 2 years; or have an associate's or bachelors degree (in any area) or be enrolled in a program leading to a degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Experience working with preschool children in a daycare setting. May be required to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain Basic First Aid, CPR certification
- Above average organizational and communication skills, ability to work as a member of a team, good interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain professionalism with staff and clientele.
- Provide customer service that is responsive to the unique needs and culture of families
- Acceptable drug screen, tuberculosis screening, an initial physical exam, background check, and finger printing are required post job offer and prior to employment.

1. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with children.
2. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently within a team, including parents, social service providers and peers.
3. Demonstrated computer skills, organizational skills and commitment to follow through on tasks with a minimum of supervision.
4. Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment in critical and adverse situations.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements :
1. Work in a preschool classroom setting arranging furniture and classroom learning areas.
2. Prolong standing, kneeling, bending to be on students level
3. Be able to perform stationary routine and repetitive functions for extended periods.
