Position Title: Shop Truck & Diesel Equipment Mechanic
Reports To: Shop Foreman
Job Purpose:
As a Shop Mechanic you must help maintain, repair, and prepare equipment to be job site ready. This position will require that you maintain, diagnose, and repair diesel / hydraulic construction equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Work with other field staff and management to maintain, repair, rebuild and troubleshoot a wide variety of construction equipment & heavy-duty trucks, including but not limited to; skid steers, excavators, dozers, crawler carriers, semi & fleet trucks and other various equipment, in a work site environment.
- Maintain, repair, modify, construction equipment through an understanding of diesel and hydraulic mechanics, as well as on-site fabrication.
- Inspects, monitors, and performs maintenance on the job site equipment to head off potential problems and reports results upon completion.
- Other duties as assigned and needed.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED along with at least 4 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic is required.
- Must have extensive knowledge of diesel and hydraulic mechanics.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools and other trades type tools.
- Decision making ability, attention to detail, makes final decisions and assumes accountability for them; demonstrates the ability to separate the people from the problem or situation, ability to learn quickly and take on new responsibility as needed.
- Ability to take direction but also the ability to work independently.
- Hydraulic and Mechanic Certification a plus.
- Must have his/her own tools.
- Must have valid Driver's License - Class C. CDL Class A or B is a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Reaching high and low, stooping, and bending, lifting/carrying/moving up to 80 pounds continually, able to travel per the company travel policy, able to concentrate at a high degree in a busy and noisy construction environment, able to work in all types of weather.
