Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Diesel Maintenance Technician with a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to join our team. This role involves the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of both diesel-powered trucks and heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in both truck and equipment mechanics, able to perform repairs, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance to ensure all vehicles and machinery operate safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on diesel-powered trucks and heavy equipment including cranes, forklifts, sizzler lifts, tele-handlers forklifts and work trucks
- Conduct troubleshooting and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and other mechanical components of both trucks and heavy machinery.
- Perform repairs on air brakes, fuel systems, exhaust systems, and suspension systems for both trucks and equipment.
- Replace worn or damaged parts, including engines, fuel filters, belts, hoses, and more, to ensure optimal function and safety.
- Test and ensure proper operation of repaired equipment and vehicles to verify the effectiveness of repairs.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to assess vehicle and equipment performance.
- Maintain and repair hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and other essential truck and machinery components.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and manufacturer specifications.
- Safely operate and drive trucks and equipment, as needed, to transport or test repaired units.
- Maintain accurate records of all service and repair work, including parts used and hours worked.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and managers regarding maintenance schedules, repair status, and any issues encountered.
- Assist with emergency breakdowns and provide on-site repairs when necessary.
- Keep up with industry trends, repair technologies, and safety practices.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in diesel mechanics preferred.
- Experience in the maintenance and repair of both diesel-powered trucks and heavy equipment.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Strong understanding of diesel engine operation and diagnostics, as well as experience with hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to work on both trucks and various types of heavy equipment (cranes, forklifts, sizzler lifts, tele-handlers forklifts and work trucks).
- Strong troubleshooting, repair, and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to interpret service manuals, blueprints, and schematics for both trucks and equipment.
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to lift heavy parts and perform physically demanding tasks.
Preferred Skills:
- Welding and fabrication skills.
- ASE certifications or other relevant certifications in diesel mechanics or truck/equipment repair.
