Automotive Used Car Director

The Used Car Director oversees all aspects of the used car department, ensuring profitability, effective inventory management, and exceptional customer service. This role involves strategic planning, team leadership, and various departments collaborating to enhance the used car sales process.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership & Management:
   • Lead and mentor the used car sales team to achieve departmental goals.
   • Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth.
2. Inventory Management:
   • Oversee the procurement, pricing, and merchandising of used vehicle inventory.
   • Conduct regular assessments of inventory levels and sales performance to optimize stock and reduce holding costs.
3. Sales Strategy Development:
   • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to increase used car sales and profitability.
   • Analyze market trends and adjust pricing and promotions accordingly.
4. Customer Experience:
   • Ensure exceptional customer service and satisfaction throughout the buying process.
   • Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues that arise during the sales process.
5. Financial Management:
   • Monitor and manage the used car department’s budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
   • Prepare regular reports on sales performance, inventory turnover, and profitability.
6. Collaboration:
   • Work closely with the finance, marketing, and service departments to support overall dealership objectives.
   • Build relationships with wholesalers, auction houses, and other vendors to enhance inventory acquisition.
7. Compliance & Standards:
   • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements related to used car sales.
   • Uphold company policies and standards in all aspects of department operations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive sales, with at least 2 years in a management role.
• Strong knowledge of the used car market and sales techniques.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in inventory management systems and CRM software.
