The Corn Production Manager is responsible for the administrative duties of the production of corn flour and assisting the Plant Superintendent in his/her duties.
- Assist the Plant Superintendent in the supervision and administration of the Production Department.
- Assist the Plant Superintendent in the following duties:
- Planning of the production needs.
- Elaborate the Production budget.
- Evaluate and approve purchases of new equipment and modifications to existing ones.
- Develops and/or updates operations procedures.
- Implementation of systems, standards and specifications involving the quality of the corn flour and ingredients used.
- Coaches and Mentors production employees on required and proactive safety initiatives such as trends, department wide participation, reviews, safety index, goals, and objectives.
- Solving operational problems related to the production of corn flour.
- Continuous improvement of the production of corn flour.
- Review, create and approve level “C” and “D” documents of the procedure listed above.
- Develops and directs strategies conductive to attaining a healthy morale through: Training and development of personnel, Motivation of all workers, promoting teamwork.
- Partners with Human Resources on strategic planning such as development, coaching, career development, secession planning, and cross training to maintain department efficiencies.
- Ensures all food safety principles, legal requirements, and operational processes have been applied effectively to include education, knowledge, awareness, and application.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field required. 6 years of production experience in a food manufacturing environment required. Bakery or cereal industry highly preferred. With a minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial capacity in a manufacturing environment required. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Experience in manufacturing management roles with proven track record in leading manufacturing teams.
- Experience and exposure to regulatory inspections (AIB, OSHA, MILITARY, Health Dept., EPA, City & County Inspectors)
- Experience with Quality Systems and Programs
- Experience with manufacturing safety concepts, applications, and committees.
- Team management/leadership/development skills, including the ability to manage people in an organization matrix and get the best out of them, successful in building and mentoring high performance teams.
- Maturity, self-confidence, and strong communication skills will be critical for this role.
- Budget preparation and Cost analysis
- Effectively communicate in Spanish and English both verbal and written (desirable)
- Be able to walk long distances and to be on his/her feet for long periods of time.
- Able to work in dusty, noisy, hot, cold, and small areas.
- Ability to work flexible hours to manage a 3-shift operation required.
