What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Suppression System Designer position at Grunau Fire?
- Be responsible for initial planning of a project including scheduling of time, creating material stock lists, analyzing changes, and solving problems.
- Design various fire suppression systems while following required codes
- Identify value engineering opportunities where appropriate
- Conduct field surveys of existing buildings and systems
- Use design software for 2-D & 3-D drawings
- Prepare some hand drafted drawings
- Perform system hydraulic calculations
- Work with key customers and our design/build team to prepare conceptual drawings
- Produce shop drawings and as-built drawings
- Assist with system and equipment selection
- Assemble system specifications and O&M Manuals
- Coordinate with field personnel to ensure information flow
Experience and/or Education Requirements:
- Associates degree or better in drafting and design.
- One year of experience in computer based drafting.

Qualifications/Skills:
- Demonstrated ability with AutoSprink or other specialized fire sprinkler layout software.
- Good planning and problem-solving skills
- Good math skills
- Able to understand big picture issues
- Good communication, written, verbal, interpersonal, and analytical skills
- Project management experience a plus
- Professional and detail-oriented
- Good with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Reliable with ability to complete tasks within deadlines and communicate results back to the team
- Possess a progressive, positive attitude
