Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking a Machine Operator to join its 2nd shift Vertical Machining team.

What is the job about?
The Machine Operator will be responsible to perform complete setup and operations for various types of manual machines, machine operator is responsible for the setup and operation of various types of manual machines and equipment (involving but not limited to saws, broaches, washers, trim lathes, and shaft straighteners).
This position reports directly to the 2nd shift Area Production Supervisor and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility (primarily Mon-Fri, 2:30-11:00pm).
Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.
Your main responsibilities:
- Perform all operations within the capability of the machine(s) being operated;
- Removes metal to desired trim or add/remove weight to achieve specified
- balance.
- Perform secondary operations such as deburring, chip removal, bushing
- installation, drilling, and tapping.
- Mounts, balances, and dresses grinding wheels;
- Calibrate balancer controls.
- Performs manual and electronic record keeping and information retrieval
- functions.
- Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our
- culture and corporate standards (Safety/Environmental, Quality, Continuous
- Improvement, Communication, Internal Controls, etc.).
- Inspect parts for conformance to prints and specifications.
Work Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds,
- Ability to bend, squat, sit, walk, and stand for at least 8 hours a day
- Must be able to work overtime when required.
- Non-climate controlled facility.
Your background
We imagine that you have:
- High School Diploma, GED/HSE/HiSET or equivalent *required
- Additional machining and technical training *much preferred
- 1 yrs experience in a manufacturing environment *much preferred
- Competencies
- Able to use various types of manual machines (presses, balancers, straighteners, cut off saw, trim lathes)
- Experience using cranes, hoist, screw jacks, hydraulic jacks
- Basic computer skills in SAP and Microsoft Office
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, Ability to bend, squat, sit, walk, and stand for at least 8 hours a day
- Ability to use basic shop math (decimals, fractions, etc.)
- Demonstrated strong work ethic (including attendance), strong organizational skills and strong communication skills (written and oral).
