What is the job about?
As an Engineering Senior Manager, you will lead collaborative efforts to ensure alignment between business unit needs and engineering product and test projects related to all areas of Peerless’ business. You will be responsible for the creation, implementation and success of an ongoing roadmap of product and test development initiatives and projects. You will provide guidance, motivation, and leadership with your team and promote the same working cross-functionally in Peerless. Likewise, this role will ensure that the team continues to build future-proof competencies to solve not only today’s issues, but future product needs (digitalization, alternative materials, emerging hydraulic technologies, etc.).
This position reports directly our Engineering & Business Solutions Director and will operate out of the Indianapolis, IN facility in a full-time capacity.

Your main responsibilities:
- Team Leadership – Motivate and guide team to achieve program goals on time and within scope and keeping a continuous improvement mindset.
- Project Management / Road Mapping - Ability to coordinate creation of product development and enhancement roadmap and plan activities and priorities to ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Team Development – Ability to develop new and existing skillsets and teamwork to increase capability and strengthen team (PDD Dialogs, ongoing development and continuous learning).
- Subject Matter Expert - Support the business on technical and engineering topics (customers, sales, purchasing, quality, etc.) to ensure team acts as subject matter experts on these discussions.
- Product Support - Determine root cause of product or engineering issues and prescribe solutions (warranty, product lifecycle improvements, etc.).
- Stakeholder Management – Engage not only your own team, but also cross-functional teams to gather requirements, communicate updates and changes, and address issues both at kickoff of projects and during execution.
- Ability to manage costs and capital expenditures related to development projects – Oversee program budget and ensuring completion of projects within agreed funding
- Reporting and Documentation – Ensure data driven approach and tracking is applied on all projects and documentation of key activities is created, delivered, and maintained for process changes.
- Risk Management – Actively monitor projects for issues and identify potential risks for delays or failures and develop mitigation plans.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited institution is required. Master’s Degree or professional engineering certification preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a people leader is required.
- Ability to identify and implement product design changes or new developments in a manufacturing setting and business environment.
- Ability to successfully initiate, lead, and facilitate projects.
- Experience executing strategies and strategic initiatives within a complex business environment.
- Advanced Project Management Knowledge – ensure projects are in alignment with strategic vision.
- Excellent Collaboration and Problem Solving Skills.
- Analytical aptitude with the ability to mathematically and statistically analyze and interpret data.
- Working knowledge of SAP and how it interfaces with process flows is preferred, or similar experience with a different ERP system.
- Experience with data mining using tools like Business Warehouse
- 3D modeling / drafting experience is a plus.
