The Chess Club Team is an organization that provides students with the opportunity to engage in the sport and hobby of fishing and to be recognized for achievements and contributions to their school. Students meet with the goals of improving their chess skills as a team and individually. They will compete in a conference tournament as well as the IHSA state tournament with other IHSA member schools.Maintains attendance records for club meetings and events Assists the Director of Activities in scheduling practices and matches Supervises Chess Team activities, practices, and competitions Engages regularly with activities director about the program Understands and follows all IHSA and Southwest Prairie Conference guidelines Ensure that all team members follow the guidelines of the IHSA Communicates with students about academic eligibility and that each student serves as a good role model Adhere to all transportation guidelines outlined by District 115 for all activities Provide for the safety of the students, facilities, and equipment while conducting all practices, competitions and trains the students on boat safety Evaluates Chess Team on results and outcomes and suggest areas to improve Maintain IHSA school center requirements Organize, supervise, and conduct fundraising to support the Chess program Maintain financial records and submit all check requests to the activity director Maintain all Chess records and ensure that all participants are registered online and roster is submitted to the activity director Recruit and promote program and maintain a complete roster of all levels of the organization Facilitates and oversees activities run during the scheduled game time Keeps accurate inventory of all equipment Demonstrates knowledge of Chess Recruits student participants each school year Requests room space for meetings and events Manages and supervises the use of facilities during activities and events Confirms the security of the facilities Ensures that students have a way to get home and remains present until the last student is released Promotes and publicizes club meetings and events Maintains positive relationships with students and interacts with students and adults in a respectful manner Collaborates with administration to maintain the vision of the Strategic Goals and purpose of the club / activity Uses appropriate channels to resolve concerns and problems Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the club Completes all training and certification required by the District Other duties as required SKILLS : Organizational skills and initiative for working with minimal direct supervision. Must show evidence of strong leadership and organizational skills. KNOWLEDGE : Previous successful experience in sponsorship / mentoring preferred. Substantial knowledge in the area of student support, as well as familiarity with student discipline and safety protocols. ABILITY : Establish and maintain positive and supportive working relationships with all stakeholders to be flexible and change as needed.
