Operations Manager
Job Summary:
The Operations Manager oversees daily operations in an aerospace manufacturing facility, ensuring efficient production and fostering a high-performance culture. This role optimizes workflows, reduces inefficiencies, and aligns activities with company objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of aerospace industry standards, regulatory compliance (e.g., ITAR, AS9100, FAA, ISO), and safety protocols. They will lead cross-functional teams, improve resource utilization, and enhance productivity.
The manager will oversee the plant manufacturing budget, implement KPIs, assess production capacity, and drive process improvements to enhance cost-effectiveness, quality, and on-time delivery. Strong strategic planning skills are needed to forecast demand, manage inventory, and integrate new technologies. He will champion continuous improvement through Lean Six Sigma, while ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with ITAR, FAA, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Lead audits and ensure accurate documentation related to quality and compliance.
Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with senior management to develop operational strategies that align with business objectives.
- Develop and execute the plant manufacturing budgets and optimize cost efficiency without compromising quality or safety.
- Analyze market trends and adjust operations to stay competitive within the aerospace sector.
Team Development
- Lead, train, and develop a high-performing operations team, including supervisors, technicians, and production staff.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching for professional growth.
Operational Leadership
- Plan, direct, and coordinate daily aerospace manufacturing or service operations to meet production schedules and customer demands.
- Oversee workflow management, resource allocation, and staff scheduling.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and quality standards, including AS9100 certifications.
Performance Management
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to enhance operational performance.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and production issues in a timely manner.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and customer service teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products or services.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and key stakeholders to enhance operational effectiveness.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in experience.
- 5-10 years of experience in operations management within the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
- Proven experience with quality systems, supply chain management, and regulatory compliance.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and manufacturing software.
- In-depth knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes, materials, and safety standards.
