Job Summary:
The Set Up Coordinator plays a key role in supporting CNC machining operations by organizing and preparing tooling, documentation, and programs necessary for efficient machine set-ups across Vertical & Horizontal Milling and Lathe operations. This role is vital to maintaining a dynamic and efficient production schedule, ensuring tooling readiness, and supporting process accuracy through collaboration with Engineering and Production teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-stage and kit tooling and documentation to support machine set-ups for Vertical & Horizontal Milling and Lathe operations.
- Organize, maintain, and manage large volumes of tooling, fixtures, and documentation in both physical and electronic inventory control systems.
- Inspect and disposition tooling, tool holders, and fixtures to determine reusability and ensure capability for maintaining required production speeds, feeds, and tolerances.
- Assist in importing and distributing CNC machining programs from Engineering to Production.
- Verify the accuracy of all machining programs, associated documentation, tooling, and fixtures prior to release for production use.
- Perform additional duties as required, assigned, or directed to support production and operational objectives.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to independently organize, distribute, and tear down machine set-up materials with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in interpreting and communicating information from engineering prints, gauging documents, and cycle/set-up sheets from various electronic systems.
- Skilled in identifying and acquiring the correct tools, collets, and fixtures required for production; capable of performing tool changes, repairs, or replacements to reduce downtime.
- Experience in tooling disposition, including assessing tool holders and managing the re-sharpening process.
- Maintain accurate records of re-sharpened tooling and control inventory through an electronic management system.
- Order and track new tooling and holders per specifications to support upcoming production runs.
- Facilitate feedback loop from production CNC programming back to Engineering to ensure continuous improvement and documentation accuracy.
- Maintain work areas, tools, and equipment to company visual management and housekeeping standards.
- Adhere to all company policies including safety, quality, and operational procedures.
- Report any issues, discrepancies, or abnormal situations promptly to supervision.
