Key Responsibilities
- Product strategy and vision: Develop and communicate a product strategy and vision that aligns with the company's overall goals and objectives. Express in a roadmap;
- Release planning: Develop and maintain a release plan that outlines the short-term and long-term release plans for the product, including feature prioritization, release schedule, and key milestones;
- Voice of Subscriber: Connect with subscriber users to understand and represent the voice of the subscriber in design, prioritization and go to market activities;
- Market research and analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify user needs, market trends, and competitive landscape to inform product decisions;
- Product development and launch: Work with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and marketing, to develop and launch the product and product feature sets, ensuring it meets user needs and business objectives;
- Metrics tracking and analysis: Define and track key performance metrics for the product, analyse the data to identify areas of improvement and adjust the product strategy accordingly;
- Stakeholder communication: Communicate regularly with stakeholders, including executives, team members, and subscribers, to provide updates on product development and performance;
- Perform demonstrations of platform and product features to internal and external stakeholders as assigned;
- Product evangelism: Act as a product evangelist and represent the product discipline to internal and external stakeholders, including customers, partners, and industry analysts;
- Work in alignment with the GS1 Canada product management standard including its principles, policies, and procedures;
- Contribute to and participate in the Product Community of Practices.
Duties
General
- Own the creation and execution of assigned portfolio roadmaps;
- Lead and support the discovery, design, development, and release of product feature sets.
Understand
- Gain knowledge of GS1 Canada's complexity in strategic design, prioritization and order-of-operations decisions. This includes consideration for (but not limited to): data flows, attribution rules, standards, global integration, contractual and community obligations, and resource availability;
- Use metrics to fuel insights to make and sell rational, data-driven decisions.
- Define, document, and communicate objectives, requirements, and constraints for product initiatives and releases;
- Have knowledge of GS1 standards and the IMS's relevant to their portfolio.
- Understand and advocate for our user needs, experience, and journey throughout their portfolio;
- Collaborate in defining, documenting, and socializing User Personas and Experience Journeys and drive their approval by all product stakeholders.
Solve
- Collaborate in the creation of functional and non-functional design specs and business rules with IMS leads, product management colleagues, UX/UI designers, business analysts and cross functional stakeholders.
Plan
- Support the development of business cases, product vision, product strategies, and conduct KPI driven ROI analysis for proposed feature development and product growth initiatives.
Execute
- Assess assigned intake requests and report to senior leadership on the opportunities, risks, costs, subscriber and operational impacts, and strategic implications;
- Maintain subscriber impact registers for all product updates, from discovery through design, development, and delivery phases;
- Work in alignment with the GS1 Canada product management standard including its principles policies and procedures;
- Lead teams in the development of products using agile, project, or other methodologies, as required, including the support of sprint planning, backlog grooming, user story creation, UAT and other development activities;
- Support IMS and Marketing in developing core positioning and messaging for the platform and products;
- Create operational rollout and release plans.
Communicate
- Maintain documents according to product management processes and procedures including product roadmaps, product backlogs, ADP time tracking, release notes, and biweekly status updates;
- Communicate progress on initiatives to key stakeholders, customizing to appeal to their specific level, interest, and need;
- Perform demonstrations of platform and product features to internal and external audiences as assigned;
- Manage complex stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally, ensuring all industry partners and stakeholders are appropriately engaged and updated on all relevant product plans and statuses.
Team
- Collaborate with the Product Community of Practice in the development of the GS1 Canada product management standard, including its principles policies and procedures;
- Collaborate with Software Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Product Management, and other cross-functional teams;
- Represent Product team and actively participate in GS1 Canada organizational events.
- Contribute to and participate in the Product Community of Practice.

- Ability to facilitate diverse customer discussions and negotiate requirements using a discovery workshop or focus group approach;
- Familiarity with Cloud technologies (e.g. microservice architectures, APIs, etc) ;
- Experience with sales and operations an asset;
- Understands Design Thinking concepts;
- In naturally curious about solving problems and can bring in an outside-in perspective on issues.
If applicant does not have the following, they have compelling evidence of equivalence:
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science or business and/or master s degree in business ;
- Experience leading projects or programs to deliver improvements to large-scale distributed systems;
- 1 years of product management experience working with both internal and external customers.
