Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker (Youth Growth Coordinator) to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting and empowering young individuals, helping them navigate emotional/mental challenges and achieve their personal goals. This position requires a strong commitment to child welfare and behavioral health, as well as the ability to foster positive relationships with youth in various settings.
Duties
- Provide direct support and guidance to youth in individual and group settings.
- Supervise activities and ensure a safe, nurturing environment for all participants.
- Implement crisis management strategies to address immediate needs of youth in distress.
- Collaborate with families, schools, and community organizations to promote workforce development and access resources.
- Assist in the development of personalized plans for youth, focusing on their strengths and areas for growth.
- Mentor young individuals by providing encouragement, support, and constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions and progress for each youth in accordance with agency policies.
- Stay informed about relevant programs such as Section 8 housing assistance to better support families.
Requirements
- Experience or education in childcare, social work, or related fields is REQUIRED.
- Knowledge of child welfare systems and behavioral health practices is essential.
- Strong personal skills, with demonstrated ability to perform as a leader and as a team member
- Proven crisis management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with youth and families.
- Familiarity with workforce development initiatives is a plus.
- A passion for mentoring youth and helping them achieve their potential.
- Ability to write reports, such as daily, weekly, and monthly report summaries.
Quality Reassurance Factor (QRF)
A QRF is a demonstrated ability that certifies the holder has the ability to perform the requirements of the role immediately. Such applications will receive priority if the following is/are met by the closing date of announcement:
- CPR Trained and Certified (must submit certification)
- Crisis Management Certified (must submit certification)
