Performing unique projects with a unique culture, Syblon Reid is looking for an experienced Human Resources professional to support our employees, culture, and values as we serve our clients in California and the Western United States.
Position Summary: Provide leadership and support in human resources to the organization in areas including talent acquisition and onboarding, employee development and training, employee and labor relations, performance management, risk management, and compensation and benefits. Focused on improving company performance through the human resources function.
Key Responsibilities
· Stays current with federal, state, and local employment laws in multi-state operations. Ensures company policies and procedures related to employment laws are updated accordingly and communicated to employees.
· Key participant in recruitment processes and strategies to effectively source and secure applicants. Ensures recruitment and new-hire onboarding processes comply with company and union standards.
· Provide interpretation and administration of union agreements. Keeps abreast of changes in union agreements for communication to leadership and employees.
· Collaborates with leadership on training, development and training programs.
· Ensures drug testing, DOT programs, and background checks are administered according to company policies, regulatory, and EEOC requirements.
· Provides counsel and support to company leadership and employees on coaching, counseling and employment matters.
· Collaborates with leadership on compensation research, analysis and implementation.
· Serves as EEO Officer. Ensures related training is current for employees.
· Conducts and/or coordinates internal investigations. When necessary, retains and collaborates with company counsel on investigations.
· Manages workers’ compensation and other loss claims.
· Identification, analysis, and administration of company benefits programs.
· Deals with internal and external clients in a professional manner consistent with Syblon Reid Code of Business Conduct.
· Uses professional and industry sources for continuous education and development.
· Complete special projects as needed to support and improve company performance.
Qualifications
· Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a comprehensive human resources role.
· Construction industry and union experience highly preferred.
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
· Professional certifications such as HRCI GPR/SPHR, or SHRM CP/SCP preferred.
· Construction industry experience preferred. Strong understanding of business principles.
· Ability to partner and communicate with employees and stakeholders at all levels.
· Strong coaching, facilitating and teaching skills.
· Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
· Ability to adapt in response to situational and business needs.
· Possesses a strong ability to work independently and collaboratively.
· Physical requirements include being able to periodically lift and or move up to 25 lbs. and walk on uneven surfaces.
· Availability for periodic overnight travel, when required.
· Must be authorized to work in the United States.
