POSITION OVERVIEW
The Night Yard Jockey is responsible for moving tractors and trailers within the yard. Tractors and trailers have to be correctly positioned for loading and unloading operations.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Moving Trailers: Move trailers between loading docks and designated areas in the yard, positioning trailers for loading and unloading and parking trailers safely and where needed.
- Safety: Following all safety guidelines and regulations.
- Inspection of Equipment: Perform routine checks on yard trucks for safety and maintenance. Report any mechanical issue or damage to supervisor.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license, CDL preferred.
