Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Advisory SAP ABAP / UI5 Fiori Developer located in Midland, MI or Houston, TX. The role will align to Dow's Design Your Day approach and allows employees flexibility by choosing when to work remotely and when to attend on-site activities based on project work and role needs.

About you and this role

As an Advisory SAP ABAP / UI5 Fiori Developer, you will support the current ABAP development work in SAP ECC version and guide and prepare for the transition from the current SAP ECC version to S / 4 HANA in the upcoming years. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of solutions or practice(s) (which include systems (applications)) and managing its lifecycle (analysis, design, implementation / adoption, optimization, and end-of-life retirement of digital solutions). In addition, you will also deliver advanced functional and business capabilities. This role works hand-in-hand with a multi-disciplinary IT expert team (analysts / designers / developers / support) to deliver innovative digital solutions. You will orchestrate functional and technical requirements analysis, with an emphasis on experience, simplification, automation, efficiency, and reliability. You will also oversee the development, optimization, implementation, and adoption of solutions leveraging best-in-class mobile, web, desktop, and cloud technologies. This role works to identify opportunities for innovating with digital capabilities aiming to accelerate Dow’s digital transformation.

In this role, you will require in-depth conceptual and working knowledge of your discipline or functional area. You will need to understand your discipline's best practices and how they relate to others. You may need to lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements as well as serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues. You should also be able to explain difficult or sensitive information and work to build consensus with others.

It is your responsibility to analyze and resolve complex problems, examine information from multiple sources, and use judgement to evaluate established and new solutions. Your performance impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities within your own team and other related teams and requires that you work within established guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfills service or practice manager role and responsibilities for IT
  • Accountable for solution lifecycle, including functional / technical design (solution architecture, develop value case for buy vs make decisions), integration of third-party off-the-shelf software, develop / integrate / test / build quality solutions, and retire services per agreed upon roadmap
  • Supports team in the ability to operate in both waterfall and agile delivery approaches
  • Supports implementation and user adoption
  • Assists with workload analysis for team to ensure proper resource alignment for capacity planning
  • Assists with financial management by managing solution lifecycle costs
  • Works with stakeholders to understand and enable MA&D activities, as needed
  • Delivers and manages a range of ABAP / UI5, FIORI programs & solutions to enhance DOW business processes in SAP
  • Participates in hands-on ABAP / UI5, FIORI development work and is involved in various phases of a development life cycle (which includes requirement gathering, architecture, design, development, build prototypes, code review, test, and post go-live support)
  • Works closely with the functional teams (Record-To-Report, Order-To-Cash, Source-To-Pay, etc.) and users to gather requirements
  • Leverages SAP business functional knowledge to independently create and manage test cases, ensuring comprehensive development testing and quality assurance
  • Converts high-level requirements into technical designs and optimal solutions based on DOW’s IT strategy
  • Develops project estimates for all different types of custom development requests
  • Guides and coaches the junior developers in the team to improve coding standards and follow company’s development guidelines
  • Designs and delivers solutions using agile development model and / or Waterfall project methodology
  • Utilizes strong debugging skills to identify and resolve deep-seated technical issues including system debugging
  • Identifies and fixes the performance and coding issues in a timely manner
  • Organizes, controls, and manages multiple development demands
  • Maintains the technical expertise and continues to up-skill with new SAP releases with evolving processes, systems, and technologies and sharing that knowledge with the team
  • Support - selects and defines supplier and team support models
  • End-to-End Integration – coordinates with other Managers for end-to-end process optimization and integration
  • Solution Expertise – supports and fosters a community of solution experts and acts as a thought leader in their domain

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree, or 8 years relevant experience, or relevant military experience at an E6 rank / Petty Officer 2nd Class or higher is required
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as an SAP Developer
  • Ability to travel up to 5% domestically and internationally
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship / support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process
  • Preferred Skills

  • Degree in Information Technology, Math, Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Participation in at least 2 full lifecycle SAP implementation projects
  • Proficiency in S / 4 HANA ABAP Development and SAP Clean Core Principles
  • Experience with object-oriented ABAP programming, Odata, Workflow, IDOC, Adobe Forms, Smart forms, Reports, Web Dynpro, BADI, Enhancement, Program Routines, Substitution, and SAP enhancement techniques
  • Proficiency with S / 4 HANA in-App and Side-by-Side extensibility
  • Proficiency with RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP)
  • Development experience in using Eclipse with ADT tool, Latest ABAP syntax
  • Knowledge on the UI5 / Fiori, Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP)
  • Knowledge of the SAP BTP platform, services are preferred
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Precision in coding and debugging to ensure high-quality applications
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt quickly and staying updated with the latest SAP technologies and best practices
