Department Description

Students will be working as part of the Encoded Technology Data Science and Engineering team located in Cambridge, MA. ET is a novel discovery platform that is used to identify novel therapeutic compounds at scale.

Job Description

We are offering a full-time, 6-month co-op position located at Cambridge, MA. This co-op position will involve:

• Developing scalable data solutions for collecting and analyzing large-scale small molecule-protein interaction data. This may include contributing to data ingestion or processing pipelines, deploying machine learning models, and designing data models and schemas.
• Working in a cross-functional team, including data scientists, biologists, and chemists, to understand requirements and ensure project success. 
• Effectively collaborating with other engineers by using unit testing and Git.

Minimum Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, or related disciplines. 
• Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the duration of the 6 month co-op (June ~ December 2025).
• Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.
• At least 2 years of programming experience, and at least 1 year of experience in Python.
• Proficiency in SQL for database management and querying.
• Proven experience working on at least one large programming project (>1000 lines of code).
• Experience working in a Linux environment.
• Experience with Git.
• Willingness to learn about the scientific platform.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 or more years of experience in Python.
• Experience with cloud compute platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, or similar).
• Familiarity with machine learning and statistics.
• Basic knowledge of biology or chemistry.

Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses. Please refer to the position details for the requirements of each position.

• This job posting is for a temporary role as an employee of Atrium on assignment at GSK. The pay rate range provided is a reasonable estimate of the anticipated compensation range for this job at the time of posting. The actual pay rate will be based on several factors, including skills, competencies, experience, educational degree obtained, location and/or being pursued and other job-related factors permitted by law.

  In addition, this role will be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirement.

  • Pay Rate Range: $21/hr to $40/hr
