Role : Music Teacher (Key Stages 3 & 4) (Suitable for Early Careers Teachers)

Working Pattern : Full Time 32.5 hours per week

Contract Type : Fixed term until February 2026, maternity or pastoral leave cover

Location : Portsmouth

GSL Education is supporting a local secondary school in Portsmouth, Hampshire, in the search for a dedicated and enthusiastic full-time Music Teacher. Responsibilities :

  • Deliver engaging and high-quality music lessons aligned with the school s curriculum standards.
  • Use differentiated teaching strategies to accommodate various learning styles and abilities, ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed.
  • Encourage a love of music through creative teaching approaches, incorporating practical activities and cutting-edge resources.
  • Regularly assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to refine teaching practices and contribute to the wider school community.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that inspires curiosity and a passion for music.

Requirements :

  • A Bachelor s degree in Music, Education, or a related field (a Master s degree is a plus).
  • PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualifications.
  • Proven experience teaching music at secondary level, with the ability to teach Key Stage 4 students.
  • Familiarity with the national curriculum and assessment frameworks.
  • A genuine passion for music education and inspiring students.
  • Skills :

  • Strong lesson planning and classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Organisational and time-management expertise.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for innovative teaching methods.
