Academic Support Responsibilities
- Provide individualised academic support to students, helping them grasp key concepts across various subjects.
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of learning activities, ensuring all students can access and engage with the curriculum.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to identify and address learning gaps, implementing strategies to support student progress.
- Offer guidance on study techniques, organisation and time management to promote independent learning.
- Support students with special educational needs (SEN), adapting learning materials where necessary to meet diverse learning styles.
- Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and recommending interventions where required.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, encouraging student participation and confidence in learning.
- Provide additional assistance during assessments and examinations, ensuring students are well-prepared and supported.
- A relevant qualification in education, psychology, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
- Experience in an academic support or learning mentor role within a school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, staff and parents.
- A proactive and patient approach to supporting learners with varying abilities and educational needs.
- A solid understanding of the UK curriculum and academic expectations across different key stages.
- The ability to motivate and inspire students, fostering a growth mindset towards learning.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
