About The Role
As an SEN Primary Support, you will play a vital role in supporting primary school students with special educational needs. Your role will also involve assisting in the preparation of lesson materials, supporting classroom activities, and providing feedback on student development.
Key Responsibilities Of SEN Primary Support
- Collaborate with teachers to create tailored learning plans that address the specific needs of each student. Regularly review and adjust these plans to ensure they remain effective and relevant.
- Offer individual and small group interventions to help students improve their academic skills. Use evidence-based strategies to support students in developing their reading, writing, and comprehension abilities.
- Teach and reinforce effective study techniques, helping students to understand and engage with their studies. Encourage positive interactions and model appropriate behaviour.
- Work alongside classroom teachers to implement learning strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. Support teachers in addressing learning challenges and fostering a culture of respect and cooperation.
- Maintain detailed records of students’ progress and any interventions used. Provide regular updates to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties to ensure a coordinated approach to each student’s development.
- Ensure comprehensive support by collaborating with counsellors, social workers, and other professionals to address the broader needs of students and their families.
- Previous experience as a SEN Support Assistant or in a similar role.
- A genuine passion for supporting students in their educational journey.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications or training in education are desirable.
- University students and aspiring educators are encouraged to apply.
