Job Purpose: The Product Development Technician is responsible for the day to day support of GSM's electrical consumer product development. The Product Development Technician performs a wide variety of technical duties which include, but are not limited to, creating specifications, creating test plans, testing protypes, documentating issues and providing feedback.
Summary Of Essential Job Duties
- Oversee assigned projects and produce documentation (specifications, product requirements, inspection checklists) required for consumer product development
- Communicate with hardware and software developers regarding changes/improvements to hardware, app, and website products
- Testing and troubleshooting of prototypes (measuring voltages and currents, creating power profiles with an oscilloscope, measuring sound levels for hearing protection products)
- Responsible for all communications of project related issues to project team and factories
- Perform functional test of company’s products
- Escalate product and process issues to management and help with problem resolution.
- Provide detailed symptom descriptions for failures uncovered during functional test to assist in troubleshooting.
- Discuss problems (technical and process) encountered while testing/troubleshooting with supervisor and engineering staff and recommend solutions to improve work efficiency.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Basic knowledge of electrical engineer tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, sound amplifiers, loud speakers and microphones).
- Experience with Bluetooth, Cellular, and Wi-Fi consumer products.
- Experience with soldering and wiring of simple circuits.
- Ability to offer creative input for improving products.
- Work effectively either independently or as a team.
- Communicate both orally and in writing in a clear manner.
- Ability to prioritize requests and coordinate tasks on a variety of projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Power Point) and ability to learn required business systems.
- Associates of Science Degree in a technical dicipline or equivalent work experience.
- 3 years of technical experience preferably in consumer electronics.
