Job Summary:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the daily priorities and goals of the department are understood, and that the instructions and direction given by the Production Manager are followed. The supervisor is to ensure all instructions pertaining to tasks are fully communicated and any help to accomplish these tasks is provided. This position performs tasks that ensure the smooth flow of digital print jobs though the department. This includes establishing and adjusting priorities as needed, staging work to go on press, facilitating hot rushes, and coordinating flow on communication from Digital to other departments. Position will function as a hands-on, working lead. Incumbent is responsible for ensuring quality jobs are produced and errors are not passed along to other departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Keep work-in-progress thoroughly organized and produce goods using minimal waste
- Maintain a highly productive schedule and keep up with Customer demands
- Maintain strong communication with Prepress team and other department managers
- RIP files for Digital presses
- Maintain a daily schedule of printed orders according to the production schedule
- Train and evaluate new Digital Press Operators
- Monitor all processes on press to ensure effective quality control throughout run
- Maintaining and updating the production schedule
- Track and facilitate all hot rush jobs
- Prioritize workflows that ensure all presses are printing the right work
- Stage jobs/work orders for all presses
- Requisitions necessary materials as needed to meet production demands, to include digital consumables
- Oversee preventive maintenance and troubleshoot press issues
- Communicates directly with technicians to resolve mechanical or hardware issues
- Maintaining relationships throughout all operational departments
- Assist in contact with press vendors such as calling in trouble tickets and or scheduling maintenance
- Look for ways of improving throughput and time on press
- Reports to direct manager to resolve issues as they arise
- Maintain all safety and cleanliness standards
- Utilize forklift as needed
- All other duties as required or assigned
- Lead contact for all production employees such as canceled shifts, weekend schedules and time off (call outs), as required per site expectations
- All other duties as requested, including supporting other departments
Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to produce rapidly
- Motivated and highly productive, with a sense for overall effectiveness in a Manufacturing environment
- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail, and results driven
- Ability to give and take instruction and work with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively, prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities
- Manage large workloads, and maintain high quality and accuracy of work
- Meet deadlines and mitigate disruptions to workflow
- Knowledgeable in basic math, fractions, and percentage
- Working knowledge of print, design, and color management
- Ability to communicate (Read, speak, write, understand) in English
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Available for weekend work shifts & overtime as required
- Safety conscious with ability to perform job functions in a safe manner
- Ability to work alone and under minimal supervision
- Communicate professionally, effectively, and appropriately with all levels of employees
- Ability to think outside the box when creative solutions are needed
- Project management skills and ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects
- Has or has ability to obtain forklift certification

Physical demands:
- PC/Keyboard: Position requires work on computers, using keyboards and viewing monitor
- Standing: Standing for entire assigned shift
- Lifting: Raising or lowering an object from one level to another (Includes upward pulling) of up to 50 lbs.
- Carrying: Transporting an object, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Feeling: Ability to identify texture of material such as if lamination has been applied and being able to distinguish different gauges of material thickness
- Talking: Verbal communication including giving instruction and exchanging information with necessary detail and delivery
- Hearing: Communication including listening to people convey instructions or conversation, and distinguishing noises from machines and within the plant
